New Director of Children's Ministries

Introducing Mary Segalla, Director of Children’s Ministries

Valley Fourth Church is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Segalla as our new Director of Children's Ministries. As part of a staffing plan announced to our congregation in January, a search for the person of God’s leading was prayerfully conducted and Mary was chosen from a large number of applicants. The Search Team, composed of parents and VFC Elders, unanimously recommended her for the position.

Mary comes to us with a significant amount of experience both in children's ministry in a church setting as well as in classroom teaching and administration in the Christian school world.

Mary served Valley Fourth Church previously as Children's Director from 1999 to 2003, during which time she created a vision for ministry that ignited a passion to know, love and serve Jesus Christ in the lives of many children. She then went on to serve at Valley Christian School in multiple roles including those of preschool founder and Director, and elementary teacher.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies as well as a Masters in Elementary Education, both earned from Gonzaga University.

Mary is also a busy mom and has been a respected and impactful attender at Valley Fourth for several years.

As Director of Children's Ministries, Mary will provide leadership to all areas of children's ministries (Birth – Fifth grade). Our Elders have called her to maintain a Biblical, comprehensive, and consistent vision for evangelizing and edifying the children of Valley Fourth Church and in our community.

Meeting with our Search Team, Mary was asked what success looks like to her in this position. She replied: "That by God's grace I would empower the people of our church to support and become involved in a vision of imparting Biblical substance to children, encased with the understanding of child development and vibrant and engaging educational practices. I believe this kind of serving together will not only strengthen the children of our church body and the surrounding community but also the entire church, as the Body functions together in its intended giftedness."

Please extend a word of personal welcome to Mary as you see her on campus. And pray for her, our staff team, and our Elders as we continue to pursue our church’s mission: Making, Teaching, and Sending Disciples, to the glory of God!
